WELCOME TO THE WRBG BOOK CLUB at JBS
The Stamper Family Library at John Burroughs School has created a book club based on Glory Edim's Well-Read Black Girl Book Club. Edim started her book club in 2015 and since then it has steadily grown into a thriving online community. The stated goal of the WRBGBC is to showcase the universality of Black women through literature.
Remember that moment when you first encountered a character who seemed to be written just for you? That feeling of belonging remains with readers the rest of their lives—but not everyone regularly sees themselves in the pages of a book. Glory Edim brings together original essays by some of the best black women writers to shine a light on how important it is that we all—regardless of gender, race, religion, or ability—have the opportunity to find ourselves in literature.
If you are interested in Glory Edim's book, there are a few ways to obtain it. We have it available for check out in the library in hard copy and eBook form. You may also purchase your own copy although it is NOT necessary to be a part of this group.
