Summer Reading: 7th Grade

Explore your reading options for this summer! Browse by genre and find the printable lists below.

Instructions for 7th graders

Please read a minimum of THREE books for summer reading.

  • Book 1:  ALL rising seventh graders must read Hope Was Here by Joan Bauer.  This Newberry-winning novel follows sixteen-year-old Hope as she navigates grief and grows into a community advocate.  We urge you to read this book in August so the story, our first unit, is fresh in your mind at the start of school.  Bring a physical copy of this book to school throughout the first week.
  • Book 2: Choose ONE book from the list below.
  • Book 3: Choose ONE other book based on your personal reading preferences (not necessarily one from this list).  In the fall, your teacher will ask you about your choice for this option as part of getting to know you and what you like.
