AISL Summer Institute 2019: Home

June 26-27, St. Louis, MO

We See You:

Creating & Maintaining Rich & Diverse Library Collections

for our Communities

June 26th - 27th
John Burroughs School
St. Louis, MO

Are you ready to take that deep dive into determining how well your library's collection mirrors the students who use it? Then join us in St. Louis this summer to develop and establish in-depth collection diversity audits tailored to your community. We will hear from local students about what they want to see and read in their schools, and learn about trends in publishing as we discuss the basic tenets of diversity. The audit will feature real school library collections, with elementary, middle, and high school librarians facilitating the audit process.

This year's summer institute will be filled with information from a wide range of experts and practitioners along with the opportunity to purchase books from  Eye See Me BookstoreLeft Bank Books, St. Louis' oldest and largest independently-owned full-line bookstore, and the St. Louis Black Authors of Children's Literature. Come prepared to discuss and debate, create and rethink, and develop resources for your communities that reflect, mirror, and expand everyone's understanding of truly diverse collections.

And join us on Tuesday night the 25th for introductions, adult refreshments, and a little night music under the stars at JBS!

Registration is only $100.00. Register today to reserve your spot!
